Today we learned about communication. Communication is how we share our thoughts, ideas and feelings with others. We came up with all the different ways we can communicate. Then we learned about how communication has changed over time. The kinders were SHOCKED to learn that cell phones were not commonly used when I was in kindergarten.

At Bells Mill we celebrate Earth Day with a recycling bin contest. Each class decorates their recycling bin using recycled materials. Then everyone walks around and each class votes for their favorite. This year the kinders decided to create a recycling machine. They did all of the construction themselves. Here is a picture of our recycling machine. Some students also worked on creating a bird with our smaller recycling bin. The bird is holding a sign that says "Protect our Earth!" Here is a picture of our bird!
Today Dr. Recess visited Bells Mill. He came to teach us new and exciting recess games. We learned how to play 6 NEW GAMES! At recess we played these new games. Here are the six new games:
Today we made words with short e. We have covered all the vowel sounds. We are working on listening closely to hear which sound is in the word. (E and I are easily confused and O and U can sometimes be tricky.) Here are the words we made for short e.
Today we had a Mad Science assembly. The assembly focused on motion, force and gravity. Big stuff for the kindergarteners but it was broken down in an understandable way for them. One of our very own students got selected from the audience to help out on stage. He had to use one hand to turn the bucket upside down and back and keep the ball inside the bucket. Ask your kinder how you can get the ball to stay inside the bucket. Here are some pictures of our celebrity!
Today Mrs. Kanter visited our class! We learned about consequences. Consequences are what happens because of a choice we make. We learned that we are in charge of the choices we make. Each choice can have a good or bad consequence. We identified the good and bad consequences of different choices.
