In science we learned about insects. We learned that all insects have 6 legs, 3 body parts and antenna. In the computer lab we created our own insects. We made sure to include the important external features found on an insect.
Side note: I apologize for the poor quality but taking pictures was the easiest since we were having trouble printing! I just found this website and it is not included in this week's homework. Feel free to play this game at home too!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/maths/shapes/play/popup.shtml Today we had a police officer come visit our class. Officer Liquorie came in and shared lots of information about his job. We learned all the ways Police Officers help the community. We also learned about his uniform, tools and the different jobs that help police officers do their jobs. The kinders really enjoyed having a REAL Police Officer in our class!
Today was the 100th Day of Kindergarten. We are 100 days smarter! We shared our 100 day collections. Check out the neat way we displayed 100 things. We also did 100 day stations. We had lots of fun activities we could do to celebrate 100 days of learning. Kinders got to pick the choices they wanted to work at... unfortunately we did not have time for everyone to do everything. You might find some unfinished 100 day activities in your child's backpack that they can work on at home.
Today we began our kindergarten career expo. We had our first two special guests come share with us. Drs. Nguyen came in to share with us their experiences as Army Doctors. We learned how they became Army doctors, and what they do as Army doctors. The kinders had a blast learning how to be in the Army (with some Army exercises) and how to be a doctor. They helped to bandage friends (and Miss Matthews). We saw the different Army vehicles they used and the different people they helped. Make sure to ask your kinder to share something they learned about being an Army doctor. We are so thankful that the Dr. Dana and Dr. Chuck came in to tell us about their careers!
We had a great time at our Valentine's Day party. Thank you to all the parents who came to help out. It was a special day for the kinders!! Here are some pictures from the fun! In math last week we learned that you can combine shapes to make a new shape. We played a shape game that had the kinders filling a hexagon in lots of different ways. You can ask your kinder to tell you 2 different ways to make a hexagon.
Today is a super exciting day for kindergarteners. Today we get our first report card!! Below is an explanation on how to read your child's report card. Please refer to it to help you understand the report card. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!!
Today is art we worked on our cutting skills. Mrs. Park shared some fun pictures of us trying to cut curved lines, and angles.
I know scissors can be scary in the hands of a kinder but don't forget to allow your child to explore and use this tool at home. It helps to strengthen and develop fine motor muscles. |
